Addiction Treatment Services Temporarily Pauses Recovery Homes Program in Traverse City

Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) in Traverse City recently announced that it will temporarily suspend its Recovery Homes program, which includes six transitional housing properties where clients typically live after completing more intensive treatment. The decision is part of a strategic shift as the organization looks ahead to its next chapter and plans to consolidate its operations into one central facility.

According to ATS leadership, the pause allows the agency to focus on long-term sustainability, improve operational efficiency and enhance client care by bringing all services under one roof. CEO Paula Lipinski shared that this step is tied to the organization’s vision for the coming decades, with the idea that a centralized campus will reduce barriers clients sometimes face when moving between programs spread across town.

While the Recovery Homes program winds down, current residents will transition out upon completing their stays, and new admissions have been paused. ATS plans to put the homes up for sale once they are closed later this summer. Importantly, all other core services at ATS — including withdrawal management, residential treatment and outpatient care — will continue without interruption.

For individuals still seeking recovery housing during the program pause, ATS encourages connecting with local partners such as the Michigan Association of Recovery Resources, Project Unity for Life, or Keys to Freedom Ministries for additional support options.
